Native copper matrix with overgrowth of colorless calcite crystals. The calcite protects the copper from oxidation, making the copper within the calcite bright color. All crystals complete and undamaged. Ex. Travis collection. Overall size of mineral specimen: 10x8x5 cm. Size of individual crystals: 3-8 mm.

Thin crust (pseudomorphs?) of tan stilbite crystals with scalenohedral calcite crystals up to 12 mm. Inside the calcite crystals are bright native copper inclusions. No damage. Overall size of mineral specimen: 4x3x2 cm. Size of individual crystals: 1-12 mm.

This specimen was in the S.B. Whiting collection which was acquired by the academy over one hundred years ago. Though mostly a calcite specimen there is epidote and copper sprinked across the matrix. The calcite is very lustrous and translucent. An excellent opportunity to acquire a piece of history!
