Calcite : CaCO3

Elmwood mine, Carthage, Central Tennessee Ba-F-Pb-Zn District, Smith Co., Tennessee, USA

GEMMY, CLEAR, SHARP calcite twin that is just gorgeous - with a higher lustre and richer brilliance in person than you see here. The twinning plane is perfectly and symmetrically defined, and the terminations are capped by the rarer multiple-faced caps typical of old specimens from this mine. Contact on the bottom, otherwise complete and pristine ...

Calcite : CaCO3

Elmwood mine, Carthage, Central Tennessee Ba-F-Pb-Zn District, Smith Co., Tennessee, USA

What is more, it is perched on a perfect natural "base" of sphalerite and calcite! The crystal is contacted on back where it grew against matrix, but is complete all around. And while the great majority of ...

Elmwood mine, Carthage, Central Tennessee Ba-F-Pb-Zn District, Smith Co., Tennessee, USA

18.5 x 12.0 x 8.0 cm. This very gemmy crystal is superbly perched on a matrix of gray limestone and has, beautiful, intense color. In person, it is actually quite gemmy with any kind of backlighting. It is much gemmier and more translucent in person than it appears here. The doubly-terminated crystal has an almost beer-colored hue, and it measures ...
