Mariana (Marianna de Itacolumy), Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil

7.9 x 6.3 x 3.1 cm. This specimen of drusy crystallized chalcophyllite is a rarity: the only one I have seen from Brazil. Although the crystals are small it is overall a pretty, sparkling specimen with lots of color coverage. Ex. Philadelphia Academy of Sciences Collection.

Blue green microcystals of chalcophyllite coating many surfaces of matrix. Under magnification the crystals can be seen to be rosettes of bladed crystals - beautiful! Ex. Robert C. Linck (1905-1970). Overall size of mineral specimen: 8x6x3 cm. Size of individual crystals: .5 mm.
