Definition of picking table
l. A flat, or slightly inclined, platform on which the coal or ore is run to be picked free from slate or gangue.
2. "The Picking Table" is the journal of the Franklin-Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society (FOMS), Franklin, NJ, and was named after the famous, and unique, picking table used at the Palmer shaft, Franklin. This picking table was unique in that it had UV lights suspended above it, enabling the pickers to identify and remove rock and ore containing undesirable components (Pb) (esperite, margarosanite) and native Cu.
