How to link to www.mindat.org

We would be delighted for you to link to our website, if you would like to link to us, this page will give you instructions as to how to link to us, and some general guidelines you can follow:

Link address:

You should always link to http://www.mindat.org, never to just http://mindat.org

Example Code:

The following code can be copied and pasted into your website for a simple link. Feel free to alter the description text, but make sure you keep the link the same.

<a href="http://www.mindat.org">mindat.org online mineral database</a>

Banner Image:

We don't insist on you using a banner image for our link, but if you really want to use a banner then please download and use the following image, a standard 468x60 size banner. You can either download this image or link directly to the image on our web server.

For some simple example code you can paste into your site (without needing to download the image) copy and paste the following code:

<a href="http://www.mindat.org"><img src="http://www.mindat.org/mindat-banner.jpg" width=468 height=60 alt="www.mindat.org online mineralogy database" border=0></a>

Linking to Minerals:

Each mineral page has details of the URL you need to use to link. For example, if you have a page about Fluorite and want to link to the mindat.org page on Fluorite, you should use the following code:

<a href="http://www.mindat.org/min-1576.html">View Fluorite information at www.mindat.org</a>

You will need to replace the min-1576.html part with the URL given on the mineral page you wish to link to.

Linking to Localities:

This works in the same way as for minerals, except using the locality ID URL, for example:

<a href="http://www.mindat.org/loc-939.html">Wheal Gorland details on www.mindat.org</a>

Requesting Links:

Please note that we do not do banner exchanges. We only link to sites that have genuine content relating to minerals, mineralogy or geology. We specifically do not want to link to any shopping directories, jewellery stores or any link farms.

If you have a genuine site that has common interests to us then we are delighted to link to you!
