A gold mine on the Izu peninsula, started in 1915 and closed in 1959. Epithermal Au-Ag-Te-Mn veins with gangue of chalcedonic quartz. One of the most species-rich localities in Japan. Dumps overgrown by forest. Collecting was possible in the 1990s, but difficult because of the vegetation, and is now totally prohibited.
