Esperanza Mine, Lavrion (Laurion; Laurium), Lavrion District Mines, Lavrion District (Laurion; Laurium), Attikí Prefecture (Attica; Attika), Greece

A small ancient mine situated around 2.5 km NE of the town of Lavrion, close (less than 1 km North) to the famous "Km 3" site. Mineralisation occurs from the weathering of Pb-Zn ores (galena, sphalerite), and includes a very interesting assemblage of Cd-minerals (type locality for niedermayrite) and a suite of interesting chlorides and sulfates.
