A former Mn occurrence/mine located in sec. 6, T12N, R19E, G&SRM, 6 miles SE of the Lake Havasu City airport, on state owned park land. Discovered 1916. Owned & operated by Gene De Zan, California (1973). Owned & operated by Earl Heath, Arizona (1973). Produced in 1955. The USGS MRDS datrabase accuracy for this locality is not stated.
Mineralization is Mn deposit hosted in sandstone. The ore body is en echelon fractures that strike N and dip E at a width of 60.96 meters and a length of 1,609.3 meters. The higher grade ore occurs along the veins and fractures in lenses ranging from 2 to 6 feet wide and from 20 to several hundred feet long. Lower grade material consist of narrow seams of Mn oxide that extend outward for several feet into the walls of the veins. Associated rocks include Neoproterozoic-Pliocene granite. Local rocks include Middle Miocene to Oligocene volcanic and sedimentary rocks, undivided.
Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 18.29 meters and comprised of 10 open cuts ranging from a few feet to 12 feet deep.
