Pittsburgh-Idaho Mine, Gilmore District (Texas District), Lemhi Co., Idaho, USA

A lead-silver mine located in the central part of the Texas District near the townsite of Gilmore at an elevation of 7,800'.
First opened in 1902,worked until 1929.Mining and prospecting by lessees continued until 1941,idled until 1953,worked again 1953-1957.Closed since 1957.
Explored a dozen or more veins,6 substantially.
Mine included 9 levels and 6 sublevels,from 0-level(original discovery adit)to the 950-level(mine bottom).Workings are presently inaccessible.
Mine yeilded a total of about 282,000 to 290,000 tons of ore.Average grade per ton= 27%Pb,5-10%Zn,13oz.Ag,and less than 0.03 oz.Au.
