A quarry in the Preakness (Second Watchung) basalt. Quarry is located just south of the center of Bernardsville, New Jersey where the Preakness basalt terminates against the Ramapo Fault which, in this area, marks the western side of the Newark Basin.
The quarry also exposes the uppermost beds of the Feltville formation. Footprints of Batrachopus weren't rare in these sediments. Also present were fossil conifir branchlets and, in tan, sandy beds, carbonized, reed-like plant debris.
