Originally starting as a silver mine in 1888, the mines true potential as copper mine became evident by the time the first shaft was fully sunk. Eventually 3 adits a shaft and at least 3 winze shafts were added by the time mining ended.
Due to unsatisfactory results the mine was closed in 1892.
Further prospecting in the vicinity of the mine during the 1950’s failed to find any provable load.

Note: This location should not be confused with Morialta Diggings (Fifth Creek Diggings), a gold mining locality.
