Niedermendig is a northern precinct of the city of Mendig. Specimens labelled as coming from Niedermendig originate from one of the nearby quarries:

- Basalt quarries (e.g. Wingertsberg mountain)
- Pumice quarries in the Laach lake volcanic complex
