Mayville White Limestone Quarry, Iron Ridge District (Neda Iron District), Dodge Co., Wisconsin, USA

Location SW1/4 of sec 1: T. 11N., R. 16E., The Mayville White Limestone Quarry is a limestone quarry located along the Niagria Escarpment within the Iron Ridge District/Neda Iron District, that has been active since the mid 19th century, and still is in operation today. The quarry was first opened to extract limestone for making quicklime. By the time concrete became the chief limestone product the quarry switched to producing concrete and portland cement. Collecting may be allowed with permission from the quarry's management. To get to the quarry, start on east highway 33 in Horicon. Go east until you get to the junction where highway 33 and 67 meet, then turn left on North 67 and go a quarter mile north the turn around and get on White Lime Rd. The road leads up the escarpment to the quarry.
