An underground copper mine consisting of one shaft located near Hancock. The New Baltic Copper Company was organized in 1909 to explore the Isle Royal Amygdaloid north of Hancock. Work was started on the area in 1910 and continued until 1913 when the great strike stopped all work on the Peninsula. In 1915, work resumed and by 1916, a new shaft was sunk on the Lode. Company reports mention that water was a major problem at the mine and that additional pumps were employed to keep the mine dry. In 1919, the Arcadian Consolidated Copper Mining Company bought the mine. No work is noted to have occurred after this time. No records of ore shipments have been found, suggesting the company was a failure. Copper, datolite, and copper wires in prehnite can be found on the small rock piles.
