Ref.: The Iron Mines of New Jersey (1910), Bayley:491; NJ State Geol. Annual Rpts.: (1873):25; (1879):41. An iron mine in magnetite ore located on the South side of the Whippany River at Brookside. Started 1869 and closed about 1875. Ore vein was 4 to 7 feet wide. Workings featured 2 tunnels (200 feet & 500 feet) Produced 4,500 tons a year of ore.
