Ref.: The Iron Mines of New Jersey (1910), Bayley:11 & 279; Dunn, P.J. (1995), Pt 1:91. An iron mine in magnetite ore located about 2 to 3 miles SE of Ogdensburg in Sparta Twp. One of the ogden group of mines on the Sparta Mtn. Ore vein was 6 to 8 feet (2 to 2.6 meters) wide. Mine was 165 feet deep in 1880 and closed about that same year.
