Ref.: The Iron Mines of New Jersey (1910), Bayley; Rogers (1840); Cook (1872); Kitchell (1854); Dunn, P.J. (1995), Pt 1:92; Rocks & Min.: 21:416. An iron mine in goethite ore located about 2 miles NE of the Hardistonville area (Hamburg-Franklin) and about 1½ miles East of Hamburg on the East side of County road #517. This mine was worked extensively before 1840 and closed by 1868, restarted 1869-1873. Workings included a 200 foot long by 40 foot wide and 40 foot deep open cut.
