West Kiernan sill, Iron Co., Michigan, USA

Ref.: Bayley, R. W. (1959) "Geology of the Lake Mary Quadrangle, Iron County, Michigan." U. S. Geological Survey Bulletin 1077, U. S. Government Printing Office, Washington, p. 67 - 75.

Outcrops of a huge sill of differentiated metagabbro intruded into the strata of the Hemlock Volcanics formation. The sill stretches for about 13 miles northeast-southwest, and is about three miles across its widest exposure.

The subject outcrops are located in NE/4 Sec 17 T43N R31W and NW/4 Sec 12 T43N R32W.
