Outcrops of a huge sill of differentiated metagabbro intruded into the strata of the Hemlock Volcanics formation. The sill stretches for about 13 miles northeast-southwest, and is about three miles across its widest exposure.
The subject outcrops are located in NE/4 Sec 17 T43N R31W and NW/4 Sec 12 T43N R32W.
