Abandoned perlite quarry (exploited from the 19th century to the middle of the 1960s) at the southern foot of the western shoulder of Monte Alto.
Good specimens of chalcedony were found in geodic cavities, up to 10 cm in diametre, inside the glassy rhyolite. Crystals of true tridymite up to 5 mm have also been found (Neubauer, 2005).
