An underground copper mine located between Bergland and Merriweather. The Gogebic Mine was part of the Merriweather complex which consists of several mines in the area. The Gogebic was organized in 1853 and worked fissure veins consisting of quartz and bearing some copper. The access roads to the mine were nearly impassible which made it difficult to transport goods to the site and ship copper from the site. Some copper was removed in 1853 and 1854, but when the mine closed for the winter of 1854, it was never reopened. The land was sold for back taxes in 1858.
