Fulton Mine (also known as the Fulton Fissure) began operations in 1853 by sinking four shafts on the Fulton Fissure. The company worked an eighteen inch wide vein where masses of native copper were found, but not mined due to its arsenic content. Instead, the company concentrated its efforts between shafts three and four where several tons of copper was found as small masses. In addition, silver was also reported in abundance from these shafts. In 1860, the nearby Seneca Mining Company took over operations. In March of 1880, the Ahmeek Mining Company was formed by the Seneca to work the western portions of the property. No additional production information is available beyond this point specifically for the Fulton shafts.
