Great Work Mine (incl. Leeds Mine), Godolphin Cross, Breage, Mount's Bay District, Cornwall, England, UK

UK Grid Reference: SW595308
Latitude: 50°7'40"N
Longitude: 5°21'55"W
Mine dating from at least 1540. Major tin producer in the 19th century. The workings occupy the saddle between Godolphin Hill and Tregonning Hill. Coordinates are those of Leeds shaft, whose engine house was recently (2005) restored. Thomas Epsley in 1689 first introduced blasting into mining at this location.

Where Wheal Breage Lode passed from granite into greenstone, the tin ore it contained in the former disappeared instantly (Henwood, 1843).
