Wheal Owles, Truthwall, Botallack - Pendeen Area, St Just District, Cornwall, England, UK

An ancient tin mine owned by Geevor Tin Mines plc. The workings are 1,200 feet deep. Located just west of Truthwall.

Site of a famous Cornish mining disaster. On Tuesday Jan 10th 1893, 20 miners were drowned in the Cargodna part of the mine after, it is believed, they accidentally broke through to the flooded abandoned workings of Wheal Drea.
