The Brushy Mountain amethyst locality, aka the Mule Creek amethyst locality, is located about 12 miles south of the town of Mule Creek, Grant County, New Mexico, USA. The material is found in the Dark Thunder Canyon formation, a series of late Mesozoic pyroclastics and rhyolite/basalt flows.
