Description: Malachite in micro crystals and crusts is found associated with matte black magnetite and chalcocite(?) rocks at the southwestern end of Moose Island, directly across from Diamond Island. Dawson (Dawson, Sir J.W., Acadian Geology, Oliver and Boyd, 388 p., 1855) mentions magnetite and chalcocite from adjacent Economy Mountain (Gerrish Mountain).
