A gemstone (Fire Agate) mine located in the NE¼ sec. 11, T9S, R20E, in the eastern foothills of the Galiuro Mountains, near highway 253, on National Forest land (state lease ? - improbable if on NF land).
Mineralization is fire agate and chalcedony hosted in volcanic rock.
Workings are comprised of an open cut several hundred feet long. Small-scale mining operation was being worked by hand tools. Amount of production is difficult to assess.
