The occurrence is situated part in Mandello del Lario municipality and part in the Abbadia Lariana municipality.

There are two main sub-localities, within a distance of less than 300 meters each, both on the east side of the road:

- karstic cavities infilled with "red earths", hosting cm sized loose biterminated crystals of quartz, located below a bridge passing over State Road Number 36, findings occurred mostly during construction period, before the opening of the road (follow the link here below to visualize it:
