Mahopac Mines (Hill Mine; German Flats Mine), German Flats, Putnam Co., New York, USA

These mines are located just West of lake Mahopac on the road from US highway 6 to Kent Cliffs, near German Flats & about 1¾ miles North of Mahopac Falls.. The mine was abandoned in 1895 when the mining operation encountered a fault and the orebody was lost. The ore consisted of 4 beds 90 feet in breath overall and 10 to 15 feet (3.1 to 4.8 meters) wide each.
