Moen Ranch

The Moen kimberlite is located on Fish Creek, part of the Moen Ranch (private property) with easy access off of US Highway by dirt road. I had the pleasure of panning with saruca and 2.5 inch dredge in the creek at the bridge by the ranch house belonging to Mr. Moen. Creek drains both the Moen kimberlite as well as further upstream the Kelsey Lake kimberlite. Creek contains numerous garnet crystals with very few chrome diopside crystals. Several very small diamonds (less that .05 carets) were found, but of poor quality and no value. Moen exposure is upstream about 1/4 mile from ranch house on west side of creek at an elevation of approximately 7000+ feet. At time of visit, (2015), had permission of elderly Mr. Moen. At present, (2016) daughter is not allowing any further prospecting on property.
