Three lead mines, Clive, Clive United and West Clive (main period of workings 1850-1863) are located on the wooded hill of Coed Cefn-pwll-du around Cwm Leyshon Quarry. Information in the Mining Journal is insufficient to locate the mines with certainty, but the balance of probability is that Clive Mine, much the largest of the three, lies immediately behind the quarry (and has been partly quarried away by the workings).
