A copper mine. One of the wettest mines in the world. Pumps 370,000 cubic meters water per day. Pump chamber is at the 3,240 level.
Reduced facies type copper deposit in the northern extremity of the Zambian copper belt, hosted in siltstone, shale and feldspathic arenite of the Lower Roan Group. It comprises three ore bodies, Konkola, North Kirila Bomwe and South Kirila Bomwe. The northernmost ore body is worked by the Musoshi Mine, which is located across the border in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Located about 10 km north of the Nchanga mine.
