An underground copper mine consisting of one shaft near Mass City, MI. The Lake Copper Co. was organized in 1905 on the original Belt Mine property. Work was started in 1909 and continued until 1919, when the mine closed for good. The mine produced approx. 7.3 million lbs. of refined copper. Some copper, datolite, and silver can be found on the mine piles.
