Shaquanzi Fe-(Cu) deposit, Hami (Kumul; Qumul) Co., Hami (Kumul; Qumul) Prefecture, Xinjiang (Xinjiang-Uygur) Autonomous Region, China

Fe-(Cu) skarn deposit, hosted in Lower Carboniferous volcanic rocks, which are intercalated with limestone of the Yamansu Formation. The skarn orebodies developed near the contacts of late Paleozoic granite plutons and limestones. Magnetite, the main iron ore mineral, formed early during skarn paragenesis, whereas chalcopyrite and pyrite developed later and typically replace magnetite. The magnetite also occurs as quartz-calcite-sulphide veins that cut the skarn and iron orebodies.
