Sedimentary exhalative (SEDEX) Pb-Zn deposit, consisting of orebodies hosted in the transitional horizon from rhythmic black shales to dolomites of the Mesoproterozoic Gaobanhe Formation. The bodies are layered and stratiform, and are concordant to the host rocks. The upper horizon is rich in zinc minerals, whereas pyrite dominates in the lower part. The ore minerals exhibit colloform, framboidal, and crystalline textures. They occur in masses, layers, lumps, disseminations, and veins. The deposit is interpreted as having formed in local lagoons separated by underwater highlands and sand bars.
