Altered shear zone-type gold deposit, controlled by the Zhaoping fault zone and secondary faults on the footwall side. The Zhaoping fault strikes NE to NNE and separates the Archaean Jiaodong Group meta-volcanics on the hanging wall from the Linglong granite on the footwall. Gold mineralization is associated with sheared pyrite-sericite-quartz alteration zones parallel to the main fault surface within the Linglong granite. The Xiadian mine is separated into four sub-districts, comprising from north to south, the Qingcaogou sub-district, the Daobeizhuangzi sub-district, the Xiadian sub-district and the Lingqueshan sub-district. Current resources and production are based mostly on the Xiadian sub-district; the other three sub-districts are still in their exploration stages.
