Sourton Down Consols, Sourton, Okehampton area (Northern Dartmoor), Devon, England, UK
A Copper mine of which only the chimney [stack] remains. July 2007
Started in 1845 and worked from two shafts to a maximum depth of 30 fathoms, Sourton Down Consols does not appear to have been a success and was closed in 1854. The load was said to contain quartz, mundic [pyrite] and spots of yellow copper [chalcopyrite]
