Alpine fissure type quartz veins are common on the hillside above the Drws-y-Coed Copper Mine. Very fine crystals were collected here many years ago, single crystals in the National Museum of Wales Collection reach 7 cm in length. It is possible this may be the locality for quartz described in
Greg & Lettsom (1858) as "Snowdon - very fine"
