Erosion valley, located on the northern slope of Monte Somma. The ejecta (skarn, sanidinite, old Somma lavas) are weathered out of the pyroclastic formations.

"Merlinoite" crystals are usually composite crystals in which domains of both merlinoite and phillipsite-K coexist. Furthermore, the apparent single crystals very often consist of intergrowths of several individuals (Russo & Preite, 2011).
