This mine lies between the West Comet and Adelaide mines and is situated on a northern continuation of the Adelaide lode. Workings were minimal, but a shaft and adit, both to 33 m, were recorded (Tilley, 1891; Reid, 1925). At the surface, the orebody consists of gossan, manganese oxides and quartz, and is encased in serpentine. Dump material contained crocoite, which occurs in considerable abundance at a depth of 15 m; native silver also occurs in the lode (Reid, 1925). The ore shoots were small and erratic, with sporadic galena in lower levels. In 1911, the mine was purchased by the then-owners of the adjoining Adelaide mine and it is presently owned by Tom Kapitany (Melbourne mineral dealer), but no mining has been undertaken for many years. Good and abundant specimens were reportedly collected on the dumps in the 1960’s, after tracing detrital crocoite in the Comet Creek (W. Baker, pers. comm.).
