Following the reorganisation of 1996, the three Unitary Authorities of Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taff were formed from the administrative county of Mid Glamorgan.
Mid Glamorgan was itself only formed during the 1974 and was previously part of the traditional county of Glamorgan, which dates back to the middle ages.
Mineral specimens from locations within this section may therefore be labeled as coming from Bridgend, Mid Glamorgan or Glamorgan depending upon the time they were collected.
