The term "Camp Robin" covers an area with a rare element miarolitic pegmatite field that extends in NE-SW direction for about 40 km (Pezzotta 2006). The area is situated between the small towns of Ambatofinandrahana and Ambohimahasoa, and therefore belongs to two different political regions: the Matsiatra and the Amoron'i Mania regions.
More than 16 different localities are mined for multicoloured tourmalines. Camp Robin is the name of a village in the center of this area and much of material found is traded here . Several tons of tourmaline have been mined here since its discovery in august-september 2005.
