A lead-silver mine located on Pequa Creek, about 1 1/2 miles East of Conestoga and 4 miles NW of Lancaster. Started before 1899.
The Pequea Silver Mine now lies on a Conestoga Township Park. Mineral collecting is forbidden. The site has a self-guided geologic walking trail which is fairly rugged and not handicap accessable. The Pennsylvania Topographic and Geologic Survey featured the mine in their magazine Pennsylvania Geology, Vol. 36 (2006), No. 1 (http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/topogeo/pub/pageolmag/pdfs/v36n1.pdf).
