Hončova hůrka belongs to the belt of effusive magmatic rocks of lower cretaceous age which stetches from Nový Jičín through Příbor and Staříč to Český Těšín. Abandoned quarry opened extrusive sheet of picrite-peridotite effusive type in těšín-hradiště formation (micaschists).
