A former surface and underground Cu-Fe-Wollastonite prospect located in secs. 4 & 15, T6N, R14W, near Tank Pass 10 miles NW of Salome, on BLM-administered land.
Mineralization is wollastonite which replaced limestone in a contact metamorphic occurrence. The ore zone strikes NW-SE and dips 20NE. It is hosted in mica schist. An associated rock unit is granite.
Here the intrusion appears to have taken place at greater depth or under more pressure. Contact metanmorphic minerals were developed on a large scale and limestone strata were completely changed to wollastonite in places.
In the immediate vicinity of the prospect holes, the directions of dip and strike vary continuously and local folding and faulting are pronounced. In the shaft a zone of intense movement is shown, and the resulting brecciated schist fragments form the main part of the fracture filling.
Workings include a shallow shaft and several small surface cuts. No production record.
