Summary:
Many pegmatites are exposed on Little Chief Mountain, but no mining and very little prospecting has been done. There are no reports of any mineral production occurring from any of these prospects that can be found. The area is encumbered by private housing, agricultural development, and Indian lands. Elevation approx. 1154' AMSL.

Of note is one of the more significant faults in the Pala pegmatite area related to the Elsinore fault zone, crosses the saddle between Chief Mountain to the north, and Little Chief Mountain to the south. The fault trends west-southwest, and separates gabbroic country rock on the north from the tonalitic rocks on the south. This fault is traceable for at least a mile west of Pala, and has a moderately large displacement.
