Boolcoomata Mine (Copper Hill), Kalabity homestead area, Olary Province, South Australia, Australia
Situated on the northern side of Wiperaminga hill, approx. 200 meters from the feldspar/beryl quarry.
First mined around 1885, three shafts and several small cuttings were made on quartzite and micaceous schist reefs.
During his inspection in 1908, H.Y.L. Brown noted that the mine had been abandoned for some time and no definite load had been found.
Small amounts of malachite and azurite where found, although there are no records as to the amount retrieved.
The area is now part of a Nature reserve and collecting is prohibited!
The Mineralogical Society of South Australia is helping the Australian Bush Heritage Fund to clean up, protect and make safe, this and other sites on the property.
