Unnamed Cu prospect 117-15, Amole District, Tucson Mts, Pima Co., Arizona, USA

Ref.: Ashley, R.P. (1974), Field Examination (Unnamed Cu prospect 117-15).

MRDS database Dep. ID file #10039874, MRDS ID #M050986.

A Cu occurrence/prospect with underground workings located in sec. 36, T13S, R11E, on National Park land.

Mineralization is a skarn deposit hosted in arkose. Ore control was the skarn localized in a marble bed. Calcite-garnet skarn is interlayered in a 1.5 meter thick marble bed in hornfelsic argillite. Abundant limonite occurs on fractures but no other sign of mineralization is present in the shaft. Quartz monzonite apophysis must intersect the pit - much fine-grained quartz monzonite is found on the dump. One small spot in Quartz above the shaft shows Cu silicate. An associated rock unit is quartz monzonite.

Workings include a shaft 4-5 meters deep.
