Name(s) in local language(s):
Kristbergsattel, Silbertal, Silbertal, Montafon, Vorarlberg, Österreich
Part of the ancient Silbertal mining area (Kristberg is part of the Silbertal village).
Old, mostly overgrown dumps, digs and collapsed adits on both sides of the Kristberg saddle.
A miners' church dating back to around 1400 can be visited.
The separate locality Bartholomäberg also belongs to this mining area. Bechter (2010) lists various minerals that apparently belong to both Bartholomäberg and Kristbergsattel; solely baryte is reported to only occur at Kristbergsattel. The samples studied by Tropper et al. (2011) have been collected from the dumps at Knappagruaba (Bartholomäberg) and Kristbergsattel.
Blebs and grains of fahlore and chalcopyrite in coarse-grained siderite.
A pale pinkish baryte vein was discovered "recently" during (road?) construction works (GeologieMontafon.pdf).
