Huge "stratiform" scheelite deposit 7 km S of Mittersill, discovered in 1967. Covers both sides of the Felben valley (Felbertal).
Overground mining from 1976-1986, underground mining since 1979, inactive from 1993-1995 due to low W prices. In 2014, about 0.5 million tonnes of ore were mined.

Originally thought to be a syngenetic deposit, but now recognised as an epigenetic metamorphosed deposit with several generations of quartz veins and scheelite. Older scheelite fluoresces yellowish due to minor Mo contents, younger (remobilised) scheelite fluoresces blue.
The W mineralisation is derived from acid rocks (now gneiss) bordering amphibolites.
Several distinct orebodies (K1–K8) are mined underground in the Western ore field.

“The deposit is overall stratabound, but best described as stockwork mineralisation and diffuse dissemination of scheelite in a polymetamorphic basic to ultrabasic volcano-sedimentary sequence intruded by a Variscan granitoid. The Eastern Ore Zone contained also more continuous quartz-rich layers with fine-grained “sheeted” mineralisation parallel to the foliation. Initially classified as syngenetic exhalative-sedimentary deposit genetically related to mafic volcanism alternative epi-genetic granite-related models are now favoured.” (Raith & Schmidt, 2010)

Since 2009 owned by Sandvik (previously by Wolfram Bergbau- und Hütten-GmbH Nfg. KG, in short "WBH").
