Town known for its many granite pegmatites. Three of the quarries are type locations for phosphate mineral species. The most famous is the Dunton Quarry discovered in 1898 and worked in several episodes subsequently and is still being quarried. The Dunton Quarry is the only local quarry which has produced gem red and green elbaite, to date. The satellite images available of the quarries are now several years old and extensive operations have been expanded over Halls Ridge, the small projecting hill on the southernmost shoulder of Plumbago-Puzzle Mountain. Available satellite images pre-date the 2004 and newer quarrying activity.
